YES TO UPGRADEYES TO THE ENVIRONMENTYES TO WELLNESSYES IN THE PARK OF THE CITIZENSIn the context of the ongoing effort made over the last three years, the vision of the Region of Attica and the Management Body for the creation of a modern Metropolitan Park, influenced by European and global trends in sustainable design, functional upgrading, sports and recreation, was recently presented. The main axes of the new design, under consultation, are: The installation of various uses while simultaneously strengthening the character of the park as a center of awareness for environmental issues, and the inclusion of new functionsThe enhancement of existing uses and the inclusion of new permitted usesThe promotion and exploitation of existing buildingsThe functional and administrative integration of the park spacesThe formation of a modern transport network within the parkThe installation of technologically "smart" equipmentThe preparation of phytotechnical studies with a new design for the plantings that will accompany the above projects.Under no circumstances will this proposal cause the Park to be cemented, as no new concrete construction will be made.Subsequently, of course, the land uses of the Park will not be modified, as no intervention proposal will be made, which is not in accordance with the existing urban planning provisions.The intervention zones, not only do not fragment the Park, but on the contrary, work unifyingly and will be studied in the context of an overall aesthetic intervention for the Park, with the aim of unifying it and transforming it into a Model Park for recreation, environmental education and culture.The forest part of the Park remains forest and its environmental character is preserved, already strengthening the plantings, with the bioclimatic regeneration that is being implemented today.The public character of the Park is a non-negotiable reason for us, as, in the three years 2020-2023, we have inexorably moved in this direction, of preserving its public character.The educational character of the Park has already been highlighted through both the educational programs of the Management Agency, as well as through the synergies with the University of Western Attica and the Agricultural University. Additionally, with a willingness to cooperate with the Ministry of Education, the Management Body is in constant communication with the competent bodies for the proper operation of the KPEA Tritsi Park. In order to transform the until recently neglected and abandoned Park into a Model Park of recreation, environmental education and culture, it is necessary that the financial tools available to the public administration be used for the benefit of the Park and its visitors. This is what we have done until today, and this is what we will continue to do, in order to be able to highlight this unique green lung, for the improvement of the quality of life of the citizens of all of Attica. The Region of Attica and the Management Body, recognizing the importance of society's participation in a vision of such scope, organized a day of presentation of the Park's strategic planning to the general public, on February 14, 2023, and on March 10, 2023, together with the Management Body, organized Park, a day with an open discussion and participatory planning workshop, around the thematic axes of the proposal to transform the park into a Model Environmental Park, with the aim of highlighting the convergences and divergences between the involved bodies and private individuals. The conference was attended by representatives of the Management Agency of the park, the Region of Attica, the Municipalities of Ilio and Ag. Anargyron-Kamaterou, the Agricultural University of Athens, the University of Western Attica, KPEA, the Association of Friends of the Park and the Hellenic Ornithological Society. The main objective of this event is to make it clear to everyone that we want the Park to remain a public living organism that will be utilized, both with the assistance of private individuals, and with the active participation of social groups acting as a landmark of social interaction and meaningful contact with the environment. Following the open discussion and the participatory planning workshop, the development plan that was presented was put into consultation, in order for the agencies and residents of the area to submit their proposals and comments to e-mail: contact@parkotritsis.gr until 30.04 .2023. It is therefore a dynamic process, which is in full development and will be completed, after prior consultation with the participation of social agencies in the area, as well as active citizens, whose feedback will be taken into account in the final Proposal for the Configuration of the Park which will be put for voting in the Municipal Councils of the neighboring Municipalities and in the Board of Directors of the Management Body. For the implementation of all these goals, there will also be financing possibilities from the Green Fund, the Recovery Fund, the NSRF, etc. so that now in its New Era the "Antonis Tritsis" Metropolitan Park will be transformed into a Citizens' Park and will not resemble in any way the neglected Park that was until 2019. On Monday, January 16, 2023, the Municipality of Agios Anargyros-Kamaterou "swept" at the Local Government Awards, Best City Awards in the Technopolis hall of the Municipality of Athens, as it won five awards, proving that the vision of the Mayor of Agios Anargyros-Kamateros Stavros Tsirbas for a more beautiful city is moving forward with steady steps.
