The pediatric cardiologist Angeliki Karatza, who examined Georgina a few days before she was admitted to Karamandanio, on April 8, 2021, testified yesterday, at the trial of Roula Pispirigou, that the little girl had absolutely no heart problems and that there was not the slightest indication of any problem that would was leading to a standstill.

The doctor said that on March 29, 2021, she examined the little girl, as indicated by the pediatrician due to the deaths of Malena and Iris, and did not find the slightest finding.

Regarding the protest the child suffered in the hospital on April 11, Mrs. Kataratza said:

"Even the flu or the coronavirus can lead to a stoppage. Here we had no clinical findings though. It was done in public... Based on my trial medical knowledge, here there is no reason for the child to object. There was no fever, there was no focus of infection, there was nothing."

The doctor confirmed that when Georgina was admitted to Karamandanio on April 8, she was contacted: "Mr. Filias called me to examine the child and we agreed to bring him the next day. I then recalled to my memory that I had examined the child and we canceled it because there was no reason to see him again. This is also confirmed by the intern who was in my office."

Studying two cardiograms of Georgina before the court, the witness emphasized that "they are absolutely normal for her age. No suspicion, no indication of anything. I wouldn't repeat the cardiograms if I was in Karamandanio."

On April 12, 2021, the doctor went to the intensive care unit of the Rio University Hospital, where Georgina had been transferred after the seizure, and examined her.

Referring to those findings, Ms Karadza told the court: “I was surprised that after such a prolonged arrest the heart had nothing but a little liquid reflex. Usually, these kids have a lot of problems after that. The opposition did not faze her heart. It shows that despite the prolonged arrest the heart was not damaged. In a heart that had trouble it would surely leave trouble. Severe valvular insufficiency, perhaps clots in the heart, and certainly a need for supportive drugs." The doctor pointed out that during Onassiou's check-up, no hereditary heart disease was found in Georgina.

Earlier, Mrs. Karatza answered questions from the president:

Chairman: What is the difference between an arrest and a heart attack?

Witness: Every man when he dies makes a stop. Myocardial infarction is reduced oxygen supply to the heart muscle leading to necrosis of the heart muscle. In children it is very rare and there are two causes which in this particular case did not exist.

President: When someone has a seizure while sleeping what is the reaction?

Witness: Unfortunately, we see the dead face directly. And the autopsy in a 30% cannot find the cause.

President: Is there a reaction in the body?

Witness: We don't see anything. It just stops.

President: Any chance we'll see it get up or shake, so to speak?

Witness: There is a chance that we will see a pre-mortal snoring.

President: If you had been informed about the course of the child in Karamandanio, would you have changed your attitude and examined it?

Witness: No.

President: At some point the child's contractions went up to 120, 132. What do they express?

Witness: That a child might be crying... or that you woke a child up suddenly.

The process continues
