The Hellenic Livestock Association (SEK), the Panhellenic Association of Livestock Breeders (PEK) and the Coordinating Committee of Eastern Macedonia-Thrace expressed their strong opposition to the possibility of including lambs in the "Easter basket", following relevant statements by the Minister of Development and Adonis Georgiadis Investments.

In particular, the announcement comes after the announcement by the Minister of Development on a television station that lamb goats will be included in the "Easter basket".

According to the joint announcement, Mr. Georgiadis had recently stated, on the occasion of the Catholic Easter, that "the price set for Italy, by the producer I mean, not the price on the shelf, is from 7.5 to 8.5 euro the lamb and the goat".

As they emphasize, if the breeders are "forced" to sell at these prices, "they are led with mathematical precision to disaster since the cost of production per kilogram of amnoeriphi today exceeds 9 euros per kilogram".

"We call on the minister to review immediately and come to consultation with the institutions of the breeders and butchers" they point out and emphasize that "if not, we intend to take legal action against all the ministers involved, i.e. the supermarkets, for the establishment of a CARTEL in the meat market" .
