The Pottery of Northern Greece (KEBE), with its eyes on 2030 and the green transition, is investing in the production and storage of energy through four licenses for the production of electricity using storage batteries secured by the Energy Regulatory Authority (RAE). With an annual capacity of 700,000 tons of bricks and 75,000,000 pieces of roof tiles and accessories, the company with this investment seeks to ensure production volumes, minimizing its environmental footprint.

Putting sustainable development at the center of its activity, KEBE implements a targeted investment plan, focusing on the management of energy consumption. In this context, the company acquired four energy storage licenses from RAE, with a total power of 386.4MW and a useful capacity of 762.9MWh.

Through the use of the specific licenses, KEBE aims to enhance the utilization of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) units and to minimize energy consumption in its production facilities. In addition, KEBE, through its subsidiaries, holds electricity production licenses from RAE with a total capacity of 135MW, of which 19.5MW are in operation, 14MW have connection conditions and 69MW are at a mature stage.

The President & CEO of KEBE, Agis Kothalis, said in this regard: "KEBE, with a 90-year tradition in the ceramics industry and the production of innovative and ecological structural ceramic products, is steadily investing in research and development with the primary objective of its independence from fossil fuels for energy production. In this direction, we are undertaking initiatives that will further contribute to reducing our environmental footprint by 2030 by 69% for tiles and 65% for bricks, compared to 1990, while we have already achieved a reduction of 47% and 41% respectively".

KEBE has one of the largest production plants in Europe, which extends over a privately owned area of 235,000 sq.m. in New Santa Kilkis. Showing intense export activity, KEBE supplies more than 40 countries around the world with building products, which offer great energy savings and economy.
