The nominal value of loans under management decreased to 70,679 million euros at the end of the fourth quarter of 2022, from 70,968 million euros at the end of the previous quarter, according to data from the Bank of Greece.
It should be noted that from the fourth quarter of 2022, the nominal value of the loans does not include unaccounted interest and write-offs from the credit institutions that transferred the loan portfolio. For reasons of comparability, they have been calculated with the new methodology and the data of the third quarter of 2022. The change in the methodology was made to harmonize them with the corresponding supervisory data.
Loans to businesses
The nominal value of business loans under management decreased to 23,587 million euros at the end of the fourth quarter of 2022, from 23,679 million euros at the end of the previous quarter. In more detail, the nominal value of loans to non-financial enterprises (NFEs) decreased by 93 million euros and amounted to 23,509 million euros at the end of the fourth quarter of 2022. Of the loans under management to NFEs, an amount of 12,433 million euros concerns loans to small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
The nominal value of loans under management to other financial institutions remained almost unchanged at 78 million euros at the end of the fourth quarter of 2022.
Loans to freelancers, farmers and sole proprietorships
The nominal value of loans under management to self-employed professionals, farmers and sole proprietorships decreased by 273 million euros compared to the previous quarter and amounted to 9,665 million euros at the end of the fourth quarter of 2022.
Loans to individuals and private non-profit institutions
The nominal value of loans under management to individuals and private non-profit institutions increased by 77 million euros compared to the previous quarter and amounted to 37,428 million euros at the end of the fourth quarter of 2022. More specifically, consumer loans under management showed an increase of 31 million euros and amounted to 15,854 million euros. Mortgage loans under management showed an increase of 46 million euros and amounted to 21,386 million euros.
