The country's trade deficit decreased by 21.9% in January this year, as the increase in the value of exports was about six times higher than that of imports.

In particular, from ELSTAT's data on commodity transactions, the following emerges:

The total value of import-arrivals amounted to 6,827.1 million euros compared to 6,454.9 million euros in January 2022, showing an increase of 5.8% (without oil products it showed an increase of 170.4 million euros or 3 .8%, while without petroleum products and ships it showed an increase of 186.7 million euros or 4.2%).

The total value of exports-shipments amounted to 4,462.6 million euros compared to 3,427.7 million euros in January 2022, showing an increase of 30.2% (excluding petroleum products showed an increase of 429.0 million euros or 17, 5%, while without oil products and ships it showed an increase of 423.7 million euros or 17.3%).

The trade balance deficit amounted to 2,364.5 million euros compared to 3,027.2 million euros in January 2022, showing a decrease of 21.9% (without oil products it showed a decrease of 258.6 million euros or 12.7%, while excluding petroleum products and ships showed a decrease of 237.0 million euros or 11.7%).
