The regulation of private debt is an issue, which the economic staff of the government considers a priority, as the prime minister said during the press conference he gave from Kozani. Kyriakos Mitsotakis revealed that in this context the arrangements of 120 or 72 installments will be revived for those who missed them.
"Today in our country, despite the important steps that have been taken in settling private debt, there are steps that can be taken. The question many ask is what if I have missed some doses from a 120 or 72 dose setting. Are these settings somehow resurrected? The answer is yes, it will be done from now on," the prime minister characteristically said, while adding that "by paying two monthly installments, citizens will be able to revive their old participations in arrangements from which they had left".
He noted at the same time that "it is not enough just to support citizens who are struggling and losing doses from regulations" as "there are also our fellow citizens who have been absolutely consistent and who are currently finding it difficult to fulfill their obligations after the pandemic". "We want to do something for them too. They are the victims of the energy crisis and we want to see if we can do something about the new debts they have created and that is why there will be announcements tomorrow for new schemes from 36 to 72 installments for the consistent borrowers who have created new debts in recent years," he said.
The details of the decision will be announced tomorrow by the relevant ministers.
The reason for the revival of the arrangements is the jump in unpaid debts to the tax authorities to 113 billion euros, but also the multitude of requests for new tax and insurance debt repayment facilities, as there are thousands of natural persons and businesses who still cannot to pay their old debts.
Under this burden, it was decided to give a second chance to those who lost the specific arrangements, so that they can rejoin them and continue to repay their debts in several installments.
Example
So if a borrower has not paid 15 installments of a 120 installment arrangement, as long as they pay at least two installments they will be re-enrolled starting at the installment they would have normally paid if they were consistent and the monthly installments left unpaid will be added to the end of the original installment period. adjustment. That is, the time period for repayment of the debt, as determined by the original arrangement, will be extended by the time period corresponding to the unpaid installments. It is noted that over 600,000 natural persons and businesses were included in the regulation of 120 installments implemented by the government. However, along the way, many and for various reasons lost the arrangement.
