With the completion of the process of payment of the increased pensions, 1.7 million pensioners saw after 12 years
additional amounts in their accounts. The increase "runs" from 1/1/2023. However, the January retroactives will be paid at the end of February with the March pensions. This means that in the next payment the pensioners will see a double increase.
Out of a total of 1.7 million beneficiaries, about 1.4 million retirees saw the entire 7.75% increase.
About 300,000 retirees saw a smaller increase (with the majority exceeding 7%) as they maintain a small personal difference.
About 700,000-800,000 retirees saw no increase as they maintain a significant personal difference.
Of the latter category, 260,000 pensioners receive a pension of less than 800 euros net, while 515,000 receive a pension of more than 1,000 euros net per month. These are mainly police officers, firefighters, security forces, civil servants.
Pensioners who did not see an increase in their pocket but only an accounting one as they maintain a large personal difference will be informed through the electronic services of EFKA (Printing a monthly information note of the main pension) at the end of February about the reduction of their personal difference, in order to see also real increases some moment in the future.
For example, in the information note of a pensioner with a pension of 1,000 euros, the amount of 190 euros appears as a personal difference. With the increase of 7.75%, i.e. 77.5 euros per month, the personal difference of the pensioner in question will be reduced to 112.5 euros. In this case, only a very large possible increase in pensions in 2024 could lead to zero personal difference to pave the way for the improvement of the income of the pensioner in question.
How to find your personal difference
To find your personal difference (positive, negative) you can enter the e-EFKA website, under Electronic Services for pensioners. Then, from the list of services you will select "Print Monthly Main Editor's Newsletter". By entering the service with the TAXIS codes you will be able to print the information note that has detailed information about your monthly pension payment. In the note you will find your personal difference, your deductions, your gross and net pension amount.
