The prices of more than 90% of the products in the "Household Basket" are stable or reduced in the 10th week of implementation of the measure, according to the Ministry of Development.

In particular, as reported by the ministry, in 92% of the products included in the "Household Basket", the prices are reduced or kept constant in the 10th week of implementation of the Government's initiative (04/01/2023 -10/01/2023), with based on the new price lists notified to the Ministry of Development & Investments today, Wednesday, January 4, by the supermarket chains.

In detail, from the total of 833 products in the "Household Basket" that are completely comparable:

-at 55, 7% rate, the price decreased,

-at 714, 85%, the price remained stable

-and in 64, a rate of 8%, the price increased.

The household basket, for a 10th week, has held prices flat on the majority of its products, although supermarkets have started raising some prices, based on suppliers' price lists for the new year.

This was noted by the Minister of Development and Investments, Adonis Georgiadis, in his statements to the TV station Antenna, while in his post on social media he states: "10th week for the "Household Basket" and indeed the 1st for 2023, where the general product line increases and of its 833 products 64 (8%) increased, 55 (7%) decreased, and 714 (85%) stayed the same. Still impressive!"

In his interview, the minister underlined that the goal for the household basket, after 10 weeks of implementation, is not to further reduce the prices of the majority of products, as the margins have been exhausted, but to keep them stable. Regarding the increases found in the household basket, as he said, he was informed by the supermarkets that the increase mainly concerns the prices of poultry and pork which had increased demand during the holidays.
