In "red" is the "battle of the debates" with the government representative Akis Schertsos shutting down the teleconference debate between the two political leaders a day before the meeting of the Inter-Party Committee.
As Mr. Skerstos said during the briefing of the political leaders "telecombats in various forms are constantly taking place in the elections, as they will be now", while, in response to a question, he said: "We are definitely talking about a debate in this pre-election period until May 21", which, as he clarified, "must include all the parties represented in the Parliament".
Essentially, the ND rejects SYRIZA's pressing request for a duel between Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Alexis Tsipras.
According to Mrs. Tsapanidou, "the citizens have already drawn their conclusions".
In fact, the press representative of SYRIZA reminds Akis Schertsos that the "international country has been hit many times over by the government of illegal surveillance and the collapse of the rule of law. This is not what SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance says, but the dozens of publications and front pages of the international press. If Mr. Skertsos is proud of them, that is his right, but the vast majority of Greeks feel ashamed."
"As for the statements, that SYRIZA - Progressive Alliance is a "national, democratic and moral exception", they are referring to a representative of a "Trump" and not a modern European democratic government," concludes Popi Tsapanidou.
In the presence of all
As everything shows after yesterday's Skertsos briefing, the ND will come with the following position: "in principle yes" in the teleconference in the presence of the other leaders, Nikos Androulakis, etc. "With a clear framework, with rules that will ensure a lively dialogue and with an expanded agenda", as the Prime Minister's associates point out.
The proposal that SYRIZA will submit
In the inter-party committee, SYRIZA will specifically request that two teleconferences be held on a national scale. One with all the political leaders, but also a second between the outgoing prime minister and the leader of the official opposition, as well as to observe strictly equal coverage time of the parties' positions in all the media.
Everyone in the debate
PASOK, for its part, has asked for a debate with all the political leaders and not a telephone battle between Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Alexis Tsipras, "in order to turn it into a communication show for two", Charilaou Trikoupi sources said.
