The reactions of the opposition in the municipality of Agia regarding the complaint against Alexis Georgoulis regarding the sexual and physical abuse of Eleni Chronopoulos are intense. She is a lawyer and a member of the political council of PASOK.
The opposition faction directly called on the mayor of Agia, Antonis Goundara, to cut off all relations with the MEP until the case is clarified. This movement developed due to the fact that Alexis Georgoulis had been appointed ambassador of the tourism of the beaches of the municipality of Agia. He even co-organised an online discussion with the MEP's office on Sustainable Mountain Tourism in December 2021, as well as walks on the trails.
The mayor, on the other hand, clarifies in every tone that the MEP has no relationship with the municipality and clarifies that there are no beach ambassadors. The only thing that is true is that the adoption of a path in order to take care of it and highlight it, as other people and some businesses had done.
It is said, however, that three more cases of abusive and illegal actions by the MEP against people in his environment in Brussels are pending, except of course the lawyer Eleni Chronopoulou
