The Minister of Labor & Social Affairs, Kostis Hatzidakis, refers to the modernization of EFKA in a post on his personal Facebook account.
Mr. Hatzidakis notes, among other things, in his post about EFKA that he has a duty to defend "the many defenseless Greeks", stressing that "in all our reforms, the so-called progressives were against".
The post of Kostis Hatzidakis in detail:
Between a dragon of trade unionists and so-called progressives on the one hand and the many defenseless Greeks on the other, I have a duty to defend the many defenseless Greeks! Those who waited months or even years for their pension, for whom no one answered the phone at EFKA.
I had made that clear from the first moment I took over the Ministry of Labour. Today the results of our efforts are visible. What we have achieved in EFKA, as well as the reforms we are planning, we presented yesterday at an event at the Concert Hall. The issue of pending pensions has been addressed. 570,000 pensions were issued in 27 months, i.e. 1 in 16 Greeks received their main pension in 2021, 2022 and the first three months of 2023. And now pensions are issued on average in 2 months, i.e. faster than in Germany and France!
At the same time, 1555 put an end to the mess with downloaded phones. 5.6 million calls have been answered, with 70% concerning EFKA issues. To achieve this, we tried to think "outside the box", common sense solutions. In all the innovative reforms we enacted, the so-called progressives were against it. All these social sensitives rather prefer citizens in desperation!
Someone may ask: "Is everything you've done so far enough?" No! And that is why we are moving forward, to make EFKA even friendlier to the insured: By consolidating its 88 databases into an Integrated Information System. By digitizing the insurance life of all citizens. With the interconnection of EFKA with the ERGANI Information System. With the implementation of 15 new electronic services in the next 15 months. By expanding the institution of flow and reception staff. With the radical renovation of all EFKA branches. With the completion of the placement of the new General Managers and Directors.
All these are important initiatives that will bring EFKA into the new era and will change the daily life of workers and pensioners. It is our duty not only to implement the above 7 reforms, but also to preserve those that have already been done in recent years in EFKA. So that mountains of pending pensions are not created again. And so that the citizens will never again experience the embarrassment of asking for the self-evident, that is, dignity and respect for the years they worked and offered to Greek society!".
