On Saturday, April 22, the pre-election period will officially begin, according to what was reported by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis from Corfu, during the presentation of the 2030 development plan for the Ionian Islands region.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who will visit the President of the Republic on Saturday and then the presidential decree for the dissolution of Parliament and the announcement of elections will be sealed, said characteristically:

"Consider the footprint of the project that we put before the citizens and it was done in the previous four years. A government that never hid its weaknesses and recognized its mistakes. This is how we will arrive at the pre-election period that will start on Saturday. I believe the citizens will trust us because we have kept our commitments and we have a plan for how we will change the Ionian Islands and our homeland. The purpose of our policy is to improve the lives of all citizens," the Prime Minister emphasized.

Referring to the development plan for the region of the Ionian Islands, the prime minister emphasized that there are specific timetables and guaranteed funding. He noted that the government secured financial tools such as the new NSRF, resources from the public investment program, the "Antonis Tritsis" program and the Recovery Fund of 31 billion euros for which he recalled that he negotiated for days. "Island policy has been at the heart of our government's priorities from the beginning. If we achieved a lot, we can achieve a lot more from now on", underlined Mr. Mitsotakis.

In detail, Mr. Mitsotakis referred to the infrastructures with special reference to the port infrastructures.

He also spoke about the road connections with special reference to the Argostoli - Poros road and the submarine connection to Lefkada.

"Trash. The situation was tragic. Corfu has objectively cleaned up. The future has much more recycling, waste-to-energy, no landfills," he noted.

He also spoke about the interventions made after the natural disasters that hit the islands and the investments made in the direction of prevention.

Mr. Mitsotakis spoke about the three new airports in Corfu, Kefalonia and Zakynthos.

Mr. Mitsotakis pointed out that we should not be satisfied with the impressive results of tourism and not invest in the protection of our cultural heritage and a living monument such as the old town of Corfu.

"The income from tourism allows us to finance a number of policies such as for example in Education", he noted.
