"For us, May 21st is a referendum on political stability for the country," emphasized the Minister of Digital Governance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, in his television interview with ANT1.

Commenting on the possibility of a high rate of abstention from the polls, he said that "there must be a call for democratic participation of the people in the polls, abstention is not a solution and all parties and each of us must be able to contribute to maximizing participation."

"I consider that simple proportionality creates a political risk, it is a problem for the country's stability, which is the necessary condition for the country to move forward and escape from the pending issues," the minister added.

Speaking about the election results, he said that "the process is completely digitized, now all judicial representatives will have tablets, we will have in about an hour, at 20:00, 25% of the results, at 21:00 80% and a cross at 11:30 to 12:00".

Mr. Pierrakakis pointed out that when immediate decisions had to be made in crises that presented themselves "there had to be a firm hand on the wheel, a lot of speed and a culture of catching up." He even repeated that "as ND parliamentary candidates we are not prepared to support any other person besides Kyriakos Mitsotakis".

Regarding the amendment that "blocks" the electoral descent of Ilias Kasidiaris, he said that "in issues of democracy there are no asterisks, we should all have voted for it. I think the disagreement of the official opposition is pretentious", stressing that "criminal organizations have no place in the Parliament, this party should not have participated, this is our opinion and the Areios Pagos will judge it".

Regarding the digitization of the electoral process, "you do this last because first the entire state, all the services, must have been digitized. Our goal is, in the second four-year period, to digitize another 4000 services, the world must gain confidence in all of this, the electoral process is the core of Democracy. Everything else should come first for the people to trust the digital system to be able to put the core of Democracy there."

Regarding the accident in Tempi, Mr. Pierrakakis emphasized that "the competence of the Ministry of Digital Governance is to reduce bureaucracy and the digitization of state services from here on everything is technology, each organization - in this particular case the OSE - has the authority to upgrade its security systems with the best possible technological means. This did not happen in this particular case and the 30% that was missing is not an excuse for us, there are many 30% and we have to "scan" all of them one by one".
