Australian researchers have developed a new flexible robot that has the ability to print living cells inside patients' bodies. 3D printing makes it easy to create tissues precisely in the size and shape required.

Researchers in Sydney, Australia are making a great discovery which they are showing to university students. It is a new bioprinting robot that, using bio-inks that contain living cells inside the patients' body, precisely creates new tissues. The robot can still remove a hard-to-reach tumor.

The researchers are experimenting with a lamb heart to show what this small, flexible robot, as they call it, can do in surgery, which enters the body through a small incision in a device.

Further human trials are pending and it is estimated that it will take 5 to 7 years to be ready for clinical use.
