The spectacular growth of tourism in Greece and the extension of the tourist season that has been achieved is highlighted by Bloomberg in an article entitled "The summer season in Greece has already begun".
“Last summer everyone from Elon Musk to Liverpool's Mo Salah was in Mykonos, enjoying the sun, the Aegean and the island's wild nightlife. The Greek tourism industry, which accounts for 25% of the country's GDP, is experiencing explosive growth, with the peak season doubling or even tripling in length," the report, which includes extensive references to Greek destinations.
Bloomberg also cites a statement by the Greek Minister of Tourism, Vassilis Kikilia, regarding the strategy he followed with the aim of opening up to new markets and attracting big spender travelers. "Now, when we talk about vacations, we are not only referring to the three months of summer," the Minister of Tourism said recently on Greek television. "This year, travelers started arriving on direct flights from the beginning of March - Canadians, Americans, Australians, Chinese, tourists from the Middle East and, of course, all Europeans - and this will continue until the end of the year." It is a trend that began in 2022 with the recovery strategy from the coronavirus pandemic," the article says.
