Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has decided to postpone the dismissal of Defense Minister Yoav Gallad, a dismissal announced more than a week ago.
The postponement is due to the complicated security situation, public broadcaster Kan reported.
"Due to the evolving security situation, Netanyahu will deal with the defense minister issue over time," Kan said, citing a political source.
The prime minister's office had no immediate comment.
Gallant, who has taken a stand against judicial reform being promoted by the Israeli government, has sparked a major backlash inside the country, with Gallant warning of the risk of the protest movement spreading into the ranks of the armed forces.
His ouster sparked fierce backlash in Israel, where tens of thousands again took to the streets on Sunday and yesterday to protest his ouster.
