Halki has been equipped with the smallest patrol car in the world, according to the statements of its mayor, Evangelos Fragakis.
"It is the smallest patrol car in the world that is electric and takes care of the safety of its 250 residents," said the mayor.
"When you call 100, we call 50" jokingly stated Mr. Fragakis to ERT about the electric vehicle that is part of the government's "GR-eco islands" initiative, showing at the same time the corresponding vehicle with which the Coast Guard has also been equipped .
"Little by little, we are trying to convert the entire fleet of vehicles circulating on the island into electric vehicles" added the mayor of the island, who is proud of the fact that Halki is the first island to be energy autonomous thanks to the photovoltaic park it has acquired.
Halki is rightly characterized as a "green island" as it has expressed interest in participating in a European program for the production of energy from waves.
"You realize how important this is not only for Halki, but also for Greece, but also for all of Europe, if we manage to generate energy from the waves" emphasized the mayor of the island who is leading the green transition.
