The 19-year-old's parents filed a lawsuit against the three medical examiners who testified as defense witnesses - technical advisors in the trial for the murder of Alkis Kampanos.
In the oral lawsuit submitted, by their lawyer, Alexis Kouia, before the Mixed Jury Court of Thessaloniki, they are directed against the medical examiners Katerina Apostolidou, Grigori Leon and Dimitris Galenderis.
In their statements, they had distanced themselves from the content of the forensic report prepared by their colleague Leda Kovatsis regarding the causes of death of the 19-year-old, formulating their scientific opinion, that the blow to the femoral artery was what caused the death (s.s. Mrs. Kovatsis speaks of a confluence of injuries to the lower limbs and the head).
In these circumstances, the family of the 19-year-old filed a lawsuit for the offenses of false testimony and fraud before a court, requesting that the minutes of the trial with the content of their statements and the forensic opinions they drew up be forwarded to the Thessaloniki Prosecutor's Office.
This development provoked a reaction from some of the defense attorneys, who accused the civil lawsuit of being "empty of arguments", while tension followed in the courtroom.
After Easter the continuation of the trial
The trial was adjourned until April 24, when the last defense witness (expert on technical issues) is expected to testify. Then the apologies of the 12 accused are expected to begin.
